Vietnam to play Malaysia in SEA Games football semifinal

Malaysia were held to a draw by Cambodia Monday and ended up second in their group, meaning they will face Vietnam in the SEA Games men's football semifinal this week.

A 2-2 with Cambodia caused Malaysia to lose the top group position to Thailand, who deafeated Laos 1-0 also on Monday to have nine points after four matches.

Hosts Vietnam top Group A with 10 points.

Thailand will play Indonesia in the other semifinal. Both matches will be played on Thursday.

The match between Thailand and Indonesia will begin at 4 p.m. at Thien Truong Stadium in the northern Nam Dinh Province, and the match between Vietnam and Malaysia at 7 p.m. at Viet Tri Stadium in the northern Phu Tho Province.

Vietnam beat Indonesia 3-0 in the final of the previous SEA Games in the Philippines to claim gold medal.

The Vietnam match will be reported live on VnExpress International.
