The event, Quê Hương Qua Ống Kính Nhiếp Ảnh Nữ (Country through the Lens of Female Artists), displays 120 black-and-white and colour images of 40 female artists. The underlying theme is “women and love”.

The photos were selected from hundreds of images of landscapes, daily life, and ethnic minority women and children in remote areas across the country.

Highlighted works include Ra Đồng (Working on the Field) by Phạm Thị Kim Thanh, Hạnh Phúc Của Mẹ (Happy Mom) by Nguyễn Ngọc Anh, Thác Bản Giốc (Bản Giốc Waterfall) by Đinh Thị Kim Lan and Quà Của Biển (Gift from the Sea) by Nguyễn Thị Sin. They feature rural people and women in traditional clothes working at home and in the fields.

“These photos are of high quality and were shot by professional artists who wanted to show their love of life through their art. They capture the hearts of viewers," said Trần Thị Trúc Mai, a resident of District 3, who visited the event’s opening ceremony.

Established in 1981, the association includes hundreds of female artists from different backgrounds in the city.

The club’s female members have organised many solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad, and have released many photo books to introduce Việt Nam and its culture and lifestyle to people around the world.

“The association helps the women to improve, share and introduce their art to the world,” said 74-year-old Đào Hoa Nữ, head of the Hải Âu Club of Female Photography, who won several top prizes at international and national photo competitions and festivals.

The exhibition is on display at HCM City Photographers’ Association, 122 Sương Nguyệt Ánh Street, in District 1. It will run till March 13. — VNS
