Da Nang mulls public bicycle service
The city’s Department of Transport said Thursday that the pilot plan will place 600 bicycles at 61 stations, including 32 in Hai Chau District and 16 in Son Tra District.
The stations will be placed on the sidewalk near bus stops and tourist attractions, and the number of bikes at each station will be flexibly adjusted to suit actual needs.
The fee to rent a bike will be VND5,000 (US$0.21) for the first 30 minutes and VND50,000 for a day.
According to the department, stations are being installed so that the service will be ready next month.
If the trial phase succeeds, it will propose the city officially launch the service.
To rent a bike, users have to download a mobile app, create an account and pay money into it.
Each bike has an ID, smart lock and locator for the operator to keep track of the bicycle.
Hanoi-based Tri Nam Group, which is operating the same service in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hai Phong, will also run the service in Da Nang.
