Vietnam has reached mutual vaccine passport acceptance with 17 countries as of March 17, the foreign affairs ministry announced Monday.

They are Australia, Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, India, Japan, Maldives, New Zealand, Palestine, the Philippines, Saint Lucia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, the U.K. and the U.S., spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said.

People entering Vietnam with these countries' vaccine passports, and vice versa, would see local medical policies being applied to them as if they were vaccinated individuals in the countries they enter.

Hang said the foreign affairs ministry and other Vietnamese representative entities abroad are in negotiations to boost mutual vaccine passport acceptance in different countries and territories.

So far, Vietnam accepts vaccine passports .

Vietnam's vaccine passport entails personal information like the types of vaccine given and the number of shots taken. They are encoded and encrypted into a QR code, which would expire after 12 months ever since their creation.
