Record number of COVID cases in Hà Nội on Wednesday, more than 14,000 new infections nationwide
The Vietnamese capital Hà Nội reported a record 467 new COVID cases on Wednesday, as 14,508 cases were recorded across the country, taking the total number of infections to 1,252,590.

HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese capital Hà Nội reported a record 467 new COVID cases on Wednesday, as 14,508 cases were recorded across the country, taking the total number of infections to 1,252,590.
A further 196 deaths were announced, taking the death total to 25,448.
Out of the new transmissions, 8,081 were community cases and two were imported infections that were quarantine on arrival.
HCM City topped the list of new infections with 1,675, followed by Cần Thơ Province with 989, and Sóc Trăng Province with 757.
Other infections were found in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu (756), Tây Ninh (729), Bình Dương (642), Đồng Tháp (610), Vĩnh Long (585), Bình Thuận (584), Bình Phước (515), Đồng Nai (509), Cà Mau (507), Kiên Giang (479), Bến Tre (419), Bạc Liêu (402), Khánh Hòa (365), Đắk Lắk (342), Hậu Giang (291), An Giang (244), Trà Vinh (240), Bình Định (234), Lâm Đồng (222), Tiền Giang (142), Thừa Thiên Huế (141), Hải Phòng (141), Bắc Ninh (106), Thanh Hóa (104), Đà Nẵng (99), Long An (82), Đắk Nông (82), Thái Nguyên (79), Nghệ An (78), Ninh Thuận (76), Hà Giang (68), Hưng Yên (67), Phú Thọ (64), Quảng Nam (56), Nam Định (52), Phú Yên (51), Quảng Ngãi (50), Gia Lai (47), Hải Dương (46), Hà Tĩnh (31), Thái Bình (30), Quảng Bình (29), Tuyên Quang (29), Vĩnh Phúc (26), Quảng Ninh (23), Yên Bái (22), Lạng Sơn (21), Hòa Bình (18), Quảng Trị (17), Kon Tum (15), Cao Bằng (15), Hà Nam (11), Bắc Giang (11), Điện Biên (8 ), Lào Cai (4) and Sơn La (2).
There are two localities that have had no secondary infections for 14 days, Yên Bái and Bắc Kạn.
Among the new deaths, 68 were in HCM City.
The other fatalities were recorded in Đồng Nai (20), Bình Dương (19), An Giang (17), Tây Ninh (13), Kiên Giang (13), Tiền Giang (8 ), Đồng Tháp (6), Cần Thơ (6), Bạc Liêu (5), Bình Thuận (4), Long An (4), Vĩnh Long (3), Sóc Trăng (2), Bến Tre (2), Cà Mau (2), Hà Nội (1), Phú Thọ (1), Trà Vinh (1), and Khánh Hoà (1).
The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Việt Nam so far is 25,448, accounting for 2 per cent of total infections.
A further 2,704 recoveries were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number given the all-clear to 992,052.
There are currently 6,497 people being treated in intensive care units, with 14 on life support.
More than 123.4 million vaccine doses have been administered in the country to date, with just over 51.7 million people having received two doses. — VNS
