4,045 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Sunday

The Ministry of Health reported 4,045 new cases of COVID-19 and 53 COVID-related deaths on Sunday.

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health reported 4,045 new cases of COVID-19 and 53 COVID-related deaths on Sunday.

Among these new cases, 17 were imported and 4,028 were local transmissions. Of these, 1,599 were detected in the community.

HCM City still tops the list with 966 cases, followed by Bình Dương Province with 524 and Đồng Nai with 429.

The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 14 new cases.

The other cases were detected in An Giang (297), Sóc Trăng (296), Đắk Lắk (193), Bạc Liêu (155), Tây Ninh (132), Trà Vinh (113), Long An (88), Kiên Giang (83), Tiền Giang (78), Hà Giang (68), Bình Thuận (51), Cần Thơ (48), Gia Lai (44), Khánh Hòa (43), Cà Mau (42), Đồng Tháp (41), Thanh Hóa (38), Phú Thọ (34), Thừa Thiên Huế (32), Nghệ An (27), Quảng Nam (17), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (16), Vĩnh Long (15), Bến Tre (15), Quảng Ngãi (12), Bình Phước (12), Nam Định (11), Quảng Bình (11), Ninh Thuận (11), Bình Định (11), Kon Tum (10), Đà Nẵng (9), Bắc Ninh (8 ), Lâm Đồng (8 ), Hà Nam (6), Đắk Nông (5), Bắc Giang (3), Phú Yên (3), Hải Dương (2), Quảng Trị (2), Lai Châu (2), Tuyên Quang (2), and Bắc Kạn (1).

As of Sunday, the national tally now stands at 888,940, of which 884,177 are the result of the fourth wave of infections that swept the country since late April.

The 53 COVID-related deaths were in HCM City (30), Bình Dương (12), Đồng Nai (5), Long An (2), An Giang (2), Tây Ninh (1), and Bạc Liêu (1).

The average death rate over the last seven days stands at 68.

The Ministry of Health announced 2,899 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 19 on life support (ECMO).

A further 1,314 patients were given the all-clear on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 805,978.

So far, the country has now inoculated 72.9 million doses of vaccine, with more than 21 million people fully vaccinated. — VNS
