A third person has died from a COVID-19-related illness in Việt Nam.

HÀ NỘI — A third person has died from a COVID-19-related illness in Việt Nam.

The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control made the announcement Saturday morning.

The latest fatality is a 68-year-old woman who was being treated for cancer. She also had type 2 diabetes and hypertension. She died just before 5am at Đà Nẵng Cancer Hospital.

Professor Nguyễn Gia Bình of the National Steering Commitee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control's subcommittee said the cause of death was a combination of cancer, severe pneumonia and COVID-19.

On Friday two men, aged 61 and 70, also died of COVID-related illnesses. They both had underlining medical conditions.

Meanwhile, the authorities have confirmed that five of the new cases 12 new cases announced on Saturday morning are people living in central Quảng Nam Province. — VNS
