Binh Duong runs out of Covid vaccines, petitions health ministry for more

Vo Van Minh, its chairman, has written to Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long saying Binh Duong, with a population of 2.6 million, needs to vaccinate at least two million, including all workers, to resume industrial activity.

But it has so far been allocated only 544,060 doses, he said.

On Sunday a number of wards and communes had had to cancel scheduled jabs for people who had registered and got appointments, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.

The province has nearly 30 industrial parks, but as of Sunday only a few had started getting their workers vaccinated.

Binh Duong is now the second worst hit locality in the ongoing Covid wave after neighboring HCMC.

Since the wave began in late April the province has recorded 29,364 infections and 176 deaths.
