Vietnam adds 29 to Covid-19 death toll

The Ministry of Health confirmed 29 Covid-19 deaths from July 4 to 17 on Sunday, pushing the death toll in the ongoing wave to 219.

Of the new deaths, 20 cases were recorded in HCMC, three in Long An, two in Binh Duong, one each in Bac Giang, Da Nang, Hanoi and Dong Thap.

The new deaths raised the death toll since the pandemic started in 2020 to 254.

In a meeting on Sunday, Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said the pandemic situation in HCMC and the southern localities is getting complicated.

The health authorities are focusing on reducing the number of worsening cases and limit the death toll, especially with the cases who have underlying conditions, the Health Minister said.
