7,500 smuggled Covid test kits seized at border
A total 7,500 Covid-19 test kits were seized in Lang Son Province on Wednesday while being smuggled through the northern border.
At around 3:30 a.m., border guards discovered a group of people transporting goods in Tan Thanh Commune, Van Lang District and asked them to stop for a check.
But the group ran away into the night, leaving behind 15 boxes. A pursuit resulted in Duong Thi Nhan, 36, being detained by authorities.
The 15 boxes contained around 7,500 Covid-19 test kits, which cost around VND300 million ($13,131) in total.
Nhan said she was delivering the boxes to a man named Thi, whose address she did not know, for VND300,000 per box.
An investigation is ongoing.
