The iPhone 11, both used and new, remains highly popular in Vietnam three years after its release thanks to its features and affordable price.

3 years on, iPhone 11 remains wildly popular in Vietnam

Thu Huyen, an office employee in Hanoi, chose the iPhone 11 over its successor, the iPhone 12, when considering the two of them at a store recently.

"I use my smartphone mostly for social media and photography. The two models do not differ too much in terms of these features but the iPhone 11 is cheaper."

The Quyet, the seller, said he has many customers like Huyen.

He sells four of five iPhone 11s, both used and new, daily or as many as all other models combined, he said.

"Although released three years ago, its design and features are not obsolete, and its prices are good."

In the last two months the iPhone 11 has risen to become one of the best-selling smartphones at many retailers’.

It is the second biggest seller behind the iPhone 13 Pro Max at FPT Shop.

Hoang Ha Mobile said the iPhone 11 accounted for 35 percent of its sales this year and outsold many affordable Android phones.

Retailers have lowered iPhone 11 prices by nearly 30 percent since the beginning of this year to VND11.9 million ($513),

The Vietnam price is only slightly higher than in the U.S. ($499) and among the world’s lowest.

"Prices of most iPhone models have been dropping, and because the iPhone 11 is among the cheapest, its sales have been growing strongest," Xa Que Nguyen, CEO of retail chain Hnam Mobile, said.

The iPhone 11 is 25 percent cheaper than the iPhone 12 but their performance is similar, which is why customers prefer the former, he added.

It has a 6.1-inch LDC screen with the Apple A13 Bionic chip and a 12-megapixel dual camera.

The iPhone 12 has an OLED screen and is compatible with 5G, which has yet to be widely adopted in Vietnam.
