According to the national urban classification plan for the period 2021-2030, Khanh Hoa is expected to become a municipality under government management, similar to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho. Nha Trang is oriented to become an international and national marine tourism urban area and a tourism and commerce hub for Southeast Asia.
